Cabinet problems refacing solves in Schaumburg

We reface kitchen cabinets in Schaumburg for owners who like their layout and their counters but not the look of the cabinets. Old doors come off, the frames and ends are covered in new veneer or laminate, and new doors, fronts and hinges go on.

1970s cabinets with heavy face frames

Wide frames and lots of visible wood between the doors look dated. Larger, full-overlay doors hide most of the frame after refacing.

Condo kitchen with building rules

Condo buildings often limit work hours and need elevator bookings. Refacing is quiet, low-dust work with no demolition, so it fits those rules well.

Can't be without a kitchen for long

Your sink, range and fridge keep working during refacing. We work cabinet by cabinet and clean up each day.

Want soft-close, glass doors or new trim

Many owners use refacing to add details: glass doors on a pair of uppers, taller crown, or new toe-kick and trim.

Want to keep granite or quartz counters

Stone tops sit on the cabinet boxes. Because refacing keeps the boxes in place, your granite or quartz stays put too.

Need a few extra cabinets

Missing storage? A new base or tall cabinet gets the same doors and veneer as the rest of the kitchen.

Door style that dates the kitchen

If the door shape is what bothers you, paint will not fix it. Refacing swaps in a new style and covers the frames so everything matches.

Good boxes, worn-out finish

Many kitchens have well-built boxes and tired doors. Refacing puts money into the visible parts and leaves the solid structure alone.

Options to choose from

High-pressure laminateLaminate resists scratches and moisture well and works for a flat, modern look.
Soft-close hinges and slidesSoft-close hardware stops slamming and takes stress off the doors and boxes.
Two-tone and wood-plus-paintPainted perimeter cabinets with a wood-veneer island is a popular refacing combination.
Rigid thermofoil (RTF)RTF suits clean, solid colors; we keep it away from direct oven heat or add heat shields.
Painted MDF and solid wood doorsPaint-grade MDF center panels stay flat, and solid hardwood frames hold hinges well.

Cabinet Refacing in a two-story colonial from the 1990s, Schaumburg

A two-story colonial from the 1990s near Woodfield area, a typical kitchen for Schaumburg. What we started with: white thermofoil cabinets peeling at the edges, oak trim. The main complaint was peeling thermofoil doors. Finished kitchen: new five-piece shaker doors in sage green on the existing boxes, matching face-frame veneer and satin brass pulls. On site this meant end panels and exposed sides, concealed hinges, plus drawer boxes and slides.

Cabinet Refacing questions from Schaumburg homeowners

Do you reface bathroom vanities?
Yes. Vanities are refaced the same way, and doing them with the kitchen keeps the finishes consistent.
What is the downside of cabinet refacing?
You cannot move cabinets or change their sizes much, and worn interiors stay unless we add new drawer boxes or shelves.
Is it worth it to reface kitchen cabinets?
For many kitchens, yes. Refacing changes everything you look at while keeping the parts that still work.
Is it cheaper to reface or replace cabinets?
Refacing usually costs much less than new cabinets, mainly because counters, plumbing and the boxes stay in place.
How long does cabinet refacing take?
Expect a few working days in your kitchen once the doors are ready. Most of the timeline is production, not installation.
Do I need a Schaumburg-registered contractor for cabinet refacing?
Contractors must register with the Village; out-of-town contractor license $125/year (includes $10 Schaumburg Business Association fee), runs through Dec 31. We take care of that before work starts.
Do Schaumburg condo associations need to approve cabinet refacing?
Associations usually set rules for work hours, elevators, deliveries and insurance, and many require approval for plumbing, electrical or structural changes. We provide the certificate of insurance and follow the building's rules.
What kind of Schaumburg homes do you work in?
In Schaumburg we see 1950s-60s suburban subdivisions and 1960s multifamily. Each comes with its own walls, wiring and plumbing, and we plan the job around them.
Do you work in my part of Schaumburg?
Yes. Our crews work across Schaumburg, including Weathersfield, International Village, Woodfield area, Olde Schaumburg Centre — ZIP 60193, 60173, 60194, 60195 — and nearby Roselle, Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park.
