Countertop problems we fix in Chicagoland

A chip by the dishwasher, rings on marble, peeling laminate or a layout that no longer works: each one calls for a different repair. We handle all four kinds of countertop work in Chicagoland, so you get the fix that fits instead of the biggest job.

Crack across the stone

A crack that runs through the slab is filled with epoxy and leveled; if the support below is the cause, we correct that too so it doesn't reopen.

Countertop Repair →

Chipped edge or corner

A chip on the edge near the sink or dishwasher can usually be filled with tinted epoxy, shaped and polished so it blends into the stone.

Countertop Repair →

Burn mark or scorch on quartz

A hot pan can leave a pale or brown mark in the resin of quartz. Light marks often polish out; deeper ones get a filled patch.

Countertop Repair →

Granite that lost its shine

Hazy granite near the sink or the stove is worn finish, not bad stone. We polish the surface and reseal it.

Stone Countertop Restoration →

Seam that opened up or feels raised

An open or lipped seam is cleaned out, the pieces are pulled level and the joint is refilled with color-matched epoxy.

Countertop Repair →

Counters you simply don't like

If no repair will make you like the counters, replacement is the honest answer. We measure, fabricate and install new tops.

Countertop Installation →

Swollen laminate at the sink

Once water swells the core around a sink cut-out, coatings won't hold. We replace the tops and seal the new sink edge properly.

Repair, refinish, restore or replaceSmall damage: repair. Worn look: refinish or restore. Failing or unwanted tops: replace.
QuartzEngineered stone that never needs sealing; chips and scorch marks can often be repaired.
MarbleSoft and acid-sensitive, so it etches; honing and polishing restore it.
LaminatePlastic laminate over particleboard: easy to update, sensitive to standing water.
GraniteDurable stone whose shine and sealer can be renewed in place.

Countertop Services across Chicagoland

The same job looks different in a 1920s bungalow, a 1970s split-level and a new subdivision. Here is what we plan for in different parts of the region.

Prewar towns

Can old marble in a prewar kitchen be saved?

Usually. Honing removes etching and wear, and a fresh polish and seal let it stay in daily use.

Countertop Services: common questions

What is the difference between an etch and a stain?
If the spot is dull, it is etching and needs polishing. If it is dark, something got into the stone and needs a poultice.
Do you repair counters you didn't install?
Yes — who installed the counter doesn't matter. We look at the material and the damage.
How can I update my countertops without replacing them?
Depending on the material: a resurfacing coat over laminate, or a polish and reseal on natural stone.
How often should granite or marble be sealed?
There's no single schedule. Put a few drops of water on the busiest spot; if they soak in within minutes, reseal.
Can a chipped granite or quartz countertop be fixed?
In most cases. Small and medium chips are a routine repair; large broken pieces are judged on site.
