Kitchen problems we solve in Schaumburg

A kitchen remodel in Schaumburg usually starts with one complaint — no counter space, cabinets that are falling apart, or a room that is closed off from the rest of the house. We fix the cause, not just the look: layout, storage, lighting, wiring and plumbing, then the finishes you see every day.

Soffits above the cabinets

Removing the soffit gains a full row of storage. Sometimes it hides a duct or a vent stack — we check before demolition and plan around it.

Tile counters and fluorescent box lights

Grout lines that never come clean and a buzzing light box are typical in 1970s kitchens. Stone counters and flush LED lighting change the whole room.

Condo rules and fixed risers

We handle the association paperwork, insurance certificates and elevator bookings, and plan the layout around plumbing stacks that have to stay where they are.

No counter space

When the coffee maker, toaster and mixer leave no room to work, we plan longer runs, a peninsula or an island and give small appliances their own home.

Two people can't cook at once

A tight work triangle means bumping hips at the sink. We re-plan the zones — prep, cooking, cleanup — so two people can work without crossing paths.

The kitchen is dark

One ceiling fixture leaves you working in your own shadow. We plan recessed lights, pendants over the island and LED under-cabinet strips on separate switches and dimmers.

Not enough storage

We add tall pantry cabinets, deep drawers for pots, pull-outs for spices and trays, and cabinets that run to the ceiling instead of stopping a foot short.

New appliances won't fit

A 36-inch refrigerator, a panel-ready dishwasher or a range hood that vents outside often needs new cabinet openings, a new circuit or a duct run. We plan for them from day one.

What's included

  • CountertopsStone or wood counters measured on the installed cabinets, with sink and cooktop cut-outs.
  • Backsplash and tileSubway, zellige, slab or large-format tile with clean edges and outlets set flush with the tile.
  • FlooringLuxury vinyl plank, porcelain tile or hardwood, tied into the rooms around the kitchen.
  • Electrical and lightingDedicated appliance circuits, GFCI outlets, recessed lights, pendants and under-cabinet LEDs.
  • Drywall and paintPatching, new drywall where walls open, and finished paint so the room is ready to use.
  • Range hood ventingA hood ducted to the outside, sized for your range, with a proper exterior cap.
  • Project managementA single point of contact who schedules the trades and keeps you informed.

Flat-panel (slab) cabinetsSeamless doors in wood veneer or matte laminate for a modern, minimal look.
Hardwood flooringRuns continuously from kitchen to living areas; can be sanded and refinished later.
Granite and quartziteNatural stone slabs you choose in person; heat resistant, sealed once a year or so.

Before and after: a two-story colonial from the 1990s in Schaumburg

The site: a two-story colonial from the 1990s near Weathersfield. Before: white thermofoil cabinets peeling at the edges, oak trim, white ceramic tile with dark stained grout lines, oak parquet and a brass chandelier over the nook. The reason for the call: worn-out cabinets and a kitchen that no longer worked. After: cabinets in deep olive with unlacquered brass knobs and cup pulls, charcoal concrete-look quartz counters, a white 3x12 tile in a stacked pattern backsplash, gray wood-look porcelain plank flooring and black cage pendants and slim recessed lights. On site this meant drywall and paint, range hood venting, plus project management.

What bothered the owners most: a dated kitchen with worn surfaces everywhere. After: cabinets in light greige with brushed nickel bar pulls, light marble-look quartz counters, a terracotta-look square tile backsplash, black-and-white checkerboard tile flooring and two glass pendants and recessed lights. On site this meant backsplash and tile, electrical and lighting, plus drywall and paint.

Kitchen Remodeling questions from Schaumburg homeowners

My home was built before 1978. Is lead paint an issue?
We assume older painted surfaces may contain lead and work lead-safe: containment, HEPA vacuums and careful cleanup.
Do you work with condo associations?
Yes. We provide the insurance certificate, follow the building's work hours and book the elevator for deliveries.
Is it worth keeping my 1970s layout?
Often yes — keeping plumbing and gas where they are saves time and money. We change the layout only where it fixes a real problem.
Can you remove a wall to open the kitchen?
Yes, after we confirm what the wall carries. Load-bearing walls need a beam sized by an engineer and a permit — we handle both.
Do you help with design and choosing materials?
We handle the design: layout, appliance plan, cabinet style, counters and tile, with samples you can see at home.
Do Schaumburg condo associations need to approve kitchen remodel?
Associations usually set rules for work hours, elevators, deliveries and insurance, and many require approval for plumbing, electrical or structural changes. We provide the certificate of insurance and follow the building's rules.
What is the Schaumburg building department phone number?
Permits go through Community Development Department, Permitting Division (Permit Services), phone (847) 923-4420. When your scope needs one, we prepare the application and schedule the inspections.
Does a Schaumburg historic district affect kitchen remodel?
Schaumburg has locally reviewed areas, including Olde Schaumburg Centre Overlay District. Exterior changes there can need review; interior-only work usually does not. We check before anything changes on the outside.
Schaumburg plumbing code: who can do the plumbing for kitchen remodel?
Village does not license plumbers or roofers; State of Illinois license applies and a copy is provided before permit issuance. Our plumbing connections are made by licensed plumbers.
Schaumburg contractor registration: do kitchen contractors need it?
Contractors must register with the Village; out-of-town contractor license $125/year (includes $10 Schaumburg Business Association fee), runs through Dec 31. We take care of that before work starts.
Do you work in my part of Schaumburg?
Yes. Our crews work across Schaumburg, including Weathersfield, International Village, Woodfield area, Olde Schaumburg Centre — ZIP 60193, 60173, 60194, 60195 — and nearby Roselle, Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park.
