Cabinet and drawer problems we repair in Naperville

We repair kitchen cabinets and drawers: doors that sag or will not close, slides that grind, drawer boxes coming apart and cabinet floors damaged by water. In Naperville we usually fix the problem in one visit, with parts brought along or ordered to fit.

Stripped hinge screw holes

Hinges that keep pulling loose need a stronger mount, not longer screws. We rebuild the spot and rehang the door.

Drawer box coming apart

Weak drawer boxes are common in builder cabinets. A new plywood or dovetail box can go behind the original front so nothing looks different.

Sagging shelves

Particleboard shelves bow under dishes over time. We replace them with plywood shelves or add support at the back.

Loose or cracked face frame

A gap between the frame and the cabinet side means the joint has failed. We close it, secure it and touch up the finish.

Door sagging or hanging crooked

Sagging is a sign the hinge or its mounting has given way. We reset it, and if the screw holes are stripped, we plug and redrill them.

Cracked or split cabinet door

Cracked doors are repaired when the crack is clean and the parts line up. Badly damaged doors are replaced and finished to match.

Loose or missing pulls and knobs

We tighten, refit or replace pulls and knobs and fill oversized holes so they stay secure.

Swollen sink base floor

If the bottom of your sink cabinet sags or crumbles, it can usually be rebuilt in place without replacing the cabinet or the counter.

Naperville kitchen, 1980s two-story: kitchen cabinet & drawer repair

The site: a 1980s two-story in Naperville. What we started with: white thermofoil cabinets peeling at the edges, oak trim and white double sink. The reason for the call: worn, damaged cabinet parts that needed fixing. Finished kitchen: the same sink base with a new plywood floor, new soft-close hinges, door aligned. Work included checking for active leaks, removing damaged parts, plus hinges and adjustment.

Kitchen Cabinet & Drawer Repair questions from Naperville homeowners

How long does a cabinet repair take?
Usually one visit. Ordered parts or new doors take longer.
Can damaged kitchen cabinets be repaired?
Most damage is repairable. Replacement only makes sense when the box itself is badly swollen, rotted or structurally failed.
Can a cracked cabinet door be repaired?
Often. Clean cracks and loose joints are glued and clamped, then touched up.
Is it cheaper to refinish or replace cabinets?
Refinishing or painting sound cabinets is usually far less expensive than replacement. Repairs first, finish second.
Can water-damaged sink base cabinets be repaired?
Often they can. If mold or rot has spread through the box, we will tell you and discuss replacement.
Do I need a permit for cabinet repair in Naperville?
It depends on the scope. Naperville's rule in short: Remodeling such as kitchens requires a permit, as do electrical work (minor repairs and low-voltage excepted), plumbing pipe/fixture installation or rearrangement, and structural changes. We handle the permit when one is needed with Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) Business Group, Building Permits.

Yes. Our crews work across Naperville, including Downtown Naperville, Highlands, Tamarack — ZIP 60540, 60563, 60564, 60565 — and nearby Lisle, Warrenville, Bolingbrook.
