Cabinet problems pull-outs fix in Geneva

Getting on your knees to find a lid is a cabinet problem, not an organizing one. We retrofit sliding shelves and organizers into existing kitchen cabinets around Geneva, sized cabinet by cabinet instead of bought off a shelf.

Original 1990s cabinets with fixed shelves

Many 1990s kitchens still have deep, fixed lower shelves. As long as the boxes are solid, roll-outs retrofit well.

Lazy Susan that sticks or wobbles

If the turntable drops items behind it or won't spin smoothly, we replace the mechanism or swap in a different corner unit.

Trash can in the walkway

A pull-out double bin fits inside a standard base cabinet and keeps trash and recycling out of sight next to the sink.

Pantry cabinet with deep fixed shelves

Converting fixed pantry shelves to pull-outs is one of the most useful upgrades we do. Boxes and cans come forward with the shelf.

Doors and hinges in the way

Two-door cabinets with a center stile need a different setup than single-door ones. We plan the pull-outs around that.

Pots and pans in a tippy stack

Cookware piled on a single fixed shelf is the classic case. Roll-outs with raised sides keep pots in rows you can see.

Messy cabinet under the sink

A roll-out under the sink has to work around the disposal, the trap and any filter. We measure each before ordering.

Kneeling to reach the back of the cabinet

Back-of-cabinet items go unused because they're hard to get to. A sliding shelf puts them in reach without kneeling.

What to pick before the install

Wire and chrome pull-outsCoated-wire baskets for cleaning supplies and spots that need airflow.
Hardwood drawer boxesWood roll-outs that look like furniture and hold up to daily use.
Plywood or melamine roll-outsA practical choice for pantry shelves and lighter loads.

Geneva kitchen, two-story colonial from the 1990s: pull-out shelves & cabinet organizers

The site: a two-story colonial from the 1990s near Mill Creek. What we started with: honey-oak cathedral raised-panel cabinets with worn finish near the handles, brass knobs. What bothered the owners most: deep base cabinets where pots got lost at the back. The result: two wooden roll-out shelves in the deep base cabinet, pots and pans in neat rows that slide out to the front. Work included removing fixed shelves, mounting slides, plus dividers and inserts.

Before and after: a 1980s two-story in St. Charles

This one is a 1980s two-story in St. Charles. Before: white thermofoil cabinets peeling at the edges, oak trim. The reason for the call: kneeling on the floor to dig out a pan. After: two wooden roll-out shelves in the deep base cabinet, pots and pans in neat rows that slide out to the front. On site this meant cabinet-by-cabinet review, removing fixed shelves, plus installing roll-out shelves.

Pull-Out Shelves & Cabinet Organizers questions from Geneva homeowners

Do pull-out shelves work for deep cabinets?
Deep cabinets benefit the most. Full-extension slides bring the back row all the way out.
How much weight can a pull-out shelf hold?
Enough for cast iron and stand mixers when the right slides are used, which is why we ask what you'll store.
Can you put pull-outs under the sink?
Under-sink pull-outs are common. They're sized to clear the plumbing and any filter or hot-water tank.
Do pull-outs fit older cabinets?
Yes, as long as the cabinet is sound. Older face-frame cabinets just need careful measuring for clearance.
Can pull-out shelves be added to existing cabinets?
Yes, in most cabinets. We build the shelf to the clear opening and mount the slides to the cabinet sides or with rear brackets.
Do I need a Geneva-registered contractor for pull-out shelf installation?
None: the City does not have contractor registration (contractor name, address, phone and license numbers if required go on the application). We take care of that before work starts.
Do I need a permit for pull-out shelf installation in Geneva?
It depends on the scope. Geneva's rule in short: A building permit is required before any construction or alteration; separate Kitchen Remodel permit form exists. We handle the permit when one is needed with Building & Zoning Division (Building Division), 109 James St..
Do you work in my part of Geneva?
Yes. Our crews work across Geneva, including Mill Creek — ZIP 60134, 60510 — and nearby Batavia, St. Charles, West Chicago.
