Appliance removal jobs we handle in Chicagoland

Getting rid of an old kitchen appliance starts behind it: a gas line to cap, a water line to shut, a hardwired cable to make safe. In Chicagoland we disconnect each unit properly, protect the floor and doorways on the way out and take it to recycling, so the space is clean and ready for what comes next.

Appliance that still works and could be donated

Working ranges and refrigerators are often wanted by reuse stores. Let us know, and we'll try donation before recycling.

Microwave, hood or small built-ins

Over-the-range microwaves, range hoods and trash compactors come out too. We take down the bracket, cap the wiring or duct and remove the unit.

Gas range that needs disconnecting

Pulling a gas range out isn't just lifting. The supply is turned off, the line capped and tested, then the range is moved out on a dolly.

Broken appliance that's leaking or smells

Dead refrigerators can smell badly and leak as they warm up. We tape the doors, keep it upright and carry it out over protected floors.

Old refrigerator or freezer that has to go

A refrigerator can't simply be tossed. Ours go to recyclers that pull the refrigerant and oil first, then process the rest.

Hardwired wall oven or cooktop removal

A wall oven comes out of its cabinet with the power off at the panel and the conductors capped inside a covered box, ready for the next appliance.

Second fridge or freezer in the garage or basement

Spare fridges and freezers are usually in the hardest spots to reach. We handle the stairs and the tight corners.

Dishwasher removal without a flood

Old dishwashers hold water in the bottom and the lines. We drain and disconnect them properly so nothing spills on the floor.

What we hook up and check

  • Walkthrough and route checkDoorways, stairs and the hookups behind each unit are checked first.
  • Floor and doorway protectionRunners down, corners and frames padded before anything moves.
  • Gas disconnect and capValve closed, connector removed, outlet capped and checked for leaks.
  • Electrical made safeCords unplugged; hardwired units disconnected with the breaker off and wires capped in a covered box.
  • Doors, handles and trim removed when neededAppliance doors or handles come off so the unit clears tight spots.
  • Recycling or donationRefrigerant appliances to facilities that recover the refrigerant, metal to recyclers, working units to donation where possible.
  • CleanupThe empty space is swept and the area left ready for the next appliance.

Before the install

How much does appliance removal cost?
A single fridge from a ground-floor kitchen and a full set from a basement are priced differently. You get a line-item quote first.
Can I put an old refrigerator out with the garbage?
Usually not with regular trash. Refrigerators contain refrigerant that has to be recovered before scrapping, so they need special pickup or a recycler.
Can you take an appliance that still works?
We do. Working units can often go to a reuse outlet.
What happens to my old appliance?
Fridges and freezers go to facilities that recover the refrigerant; other units go to metal recyclers. Working ones can go to donation.
